Healthcare Across Cultures
Inequalities in access to health services, lack of infrastructure, and poor distribution of doctors by territory — healthcare troubles across developing nations are numerous. African health systems remain particularly marked by unequal access to care between social categories and between urban and rural areas.
The United Cultures International Health Organisation (UC-IHO) aims to establish hospitals, laboratories, medical universities, and clinics in member states. Platforms for communication between cultures about health concerns will be developed, managed by doctors, specialists, and practitioners from diverse health fields.
Morocco, as a UC host nation, is expanding its hospital infrastructure with plans to build 30 new hospitals including five university hospitals. Regulatory reforms have opened the healthcare sector to greater private investment, encouraging medical tourism as the country positions itself as a healthcare hub.
Fashion the Moroccan Way
Morocco is a rich country in terms of history, traditions, people, culture, religion, climate, and geography. Every one of these aspects of the country influences how Moroccan people are dressed. Among the variety of clothes in Morocco, we find the djellaba and kaftan, two fine garments that speak of the luxurious clothing style of the country.
The kaftan refers to the Moroccan garment that looks like the djellaba but without a hood. The origins of the kaftan go back to the Ottoman Empire, as it was one of the finest Ottoman clothing worn by the elite. In Morocco, women wear it during special occasions like weddings — it is the basic garment of the bride on her wedding day.
The fashion world and Morocco have long had a love affair. Traditional babouche slippers can be found on the Gucci runways. International brands are taking notice of what is happening on the streets of Morocco, where a new generation of "hybrids" is blending traditional and modern fashion in innovative ways.
