Russia says US prioritising energy dominance over diplomacy

Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov accused the United States of abandoning international agreements and pursuing its own interests, particularly in global energy markets.

In an interview with Russian state television, Lavrov said US actions in regions such as Iran and Venezuela were driven by oil and strategic dominance.

Lavrov said Washington “cares only about its own interests” and is prepared to defend them by any means, warning that such policies risk undermining international law and stability.

He added that the US has a doctrine focused on dominating global energy markets.
