RSVP: Why are young people still waiting for philanthropy to reply?

From global Summits to policy change, youth members of Our Voices Matter (OVM) are making it easier than ever for funders, governments, and civil society to step up to the plate. The question is: Why are they being so slow on the uptake?

Sometimes, the systems around you can make you feel invisible. As young people in Johannesburg, South Africa, we have lived in communities where there are many problems, from poverty to violence, so we particularly know this to be true. We also know, however, that action is possible, and after bonding at church over a passion for uplifting young people, our story should inspire others to act, too.
