Talks between the United States and Iran could resume as early as next week in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the newspaper said both sides are working with mediators on a one-page, 14-point memorandum of understanding intended to set the framework for a month of negotiations aimed at ending the war.
The draft reportedly includes discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme, easing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the possible transfer of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpiles to another country.
However, major disagreements remain unresolved, particularly over the scope of sanctions relief, which the report said could still derail the talks.
