Israeli forces first detained Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine and preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, after he concluded Friday sermon and prayers, WAFA reported.

Following his detention, Israeli authorities handed Sheikh Hussein an order barring him from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex for one week.

In August last year, Israeli authorities issued a six-month ban on Sheikh Hussein, after he delivered a Friday sermon condemning Israel’s starvation policy against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
