MANILA -- The Philippine government announced on Tuesday that the daily minimum wage in Metro Manila will be raised to 780 pesos ($12.73) from 695 pesos, marking a 12% increase and the largest in more than two decades, though some critics say it is still not enough to cover basic needs.
