Qatar condemned the Israeli incursion in Syria’s Quneitra and Deraa, as well as the artillery shelling by the Israeli army, calling it “a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and a blatant breach of international law,” the Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Continuation of such attacks by Israel “would exacerbate tensions in the region and undermine efforts to promote security and stability,” it added.
The ministry called on the international community to take responsibility to hold Israel accountable for its crimes.
It concluded by reiterating support for Syria’s “sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and everything that would achieve security and stability for its fraternal people.”
Israeli troops have shelled villages in Syria's western Deraa countryside, close to the occupied Golan Heights, before they pulled back from the area earlier on Monday.
