Greetings from Washington, where President Donald Trump claims to have successfully ended the war with Iran – a development that may also help spare his fellow Republicans from political fallout ahead of this November's midterm elections.

But no sooner had one front closed in Iran than another opened at home. This time, the President found himself battling algae in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which has again turned green despite a $14-million renovation that included repainting the basin “American flag blue”.

Meanwhile, the world's most important unimportant thing is taking place on this side of the Atlantic: the FIFA World Cup. Bosnia and Herzegovina are competing for the first time in 12 years.

The tournament has already produced several viral moments, such as jubilant Bosnian fans singing along to an unexpected performance by television commentators: Thierry Henry, whose wife is Bosnian, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined in singing "I Am from Bosnia, Take Me to America", a song by Bosnian band Dubioza Kolektiv. The song has become an unofficial Bosnian anthem at this year's World Cup.
